These Terms of Service govern purchases from and use of MK-Knives, including www.mk-knives.com.

By placing an order with MK-Knives, you agree to these Terms of Service together with our Refund Policy, Shipping Policy and Privacy Policy.

2. Products

MK-Knives sells handmade kitchen knives, knife-making materials, accessories and related products.

Many MK-Knives products are handmade individually. As a result, minor variations in dimensions, finish, pattern, colour, grain and appearance may occur.

Photographs are intended to represent the product as accurately as reasonably possible. Natural materials such as wood, horn and similar materials may contain natural variations.

For individually listed one-of-a-kind knives and handle materials, the photographs normally represent the specific item being offered for sale.

3. Product Specifications

We aim to provide accurate product descriptions and specifications.

Measurements such as blade length, total length, thickness and weight may be subject to minor variation, particularly for handmade products.

Steel hardness values stated as HRC may also be stated as a target or measured range depending on the product.

Product descriptions form part of the information on which your purchase is based. If you believe a product received differs materially from the agreed specifications, please contact us.

4. Prices

Prices are shown in the currency displayed by the webshop.

The total price payable will be shown before the order is completed, together with applicable shipping costs and other charges collected by MK-Knives.

For orders imported into another country, additional import VAT, customs duties, brokerage fees or other local charges may apply. These are addressed separately below.

5. Orders and Formation of Contract

Placing an order on the website constitutes an offer to purchase the selected product.

After placing an order, you will normally receive an electronic order confirmation.

A binding sales agreement is formed when your order has been accepted by MK-Knives, subject to applicable mandatory consumer law.

We reserve the right to cancel an order before fulfilment in cases such as:

An obvious pricing or product-information error
A product being unavailable because of an inventory error
Suspected fraud or misuse
An inability to legally ship the product to the destination
Other circumstances where fulfilment would be unlawful

If we cancel an order after payment has been collected, the relevant payment will be refunded.

6. Payment

Available payment methods are displayed during checkout.

Payment may be authorised or collected in accordance with the payment method selected and the Shopify checkout process.

The customer is responsible for providing accurate billing and payment information.

MK-Knives does not store complete payment-card information directly.

7. Custom, Special and Made-to-Order Products

Custom, special-order and made-to-order products may be subject to separately agreed specifications.

These may include:

Blade profile or dimensions
Steel selection
Construction
Grind
Handle material
Handle construction
Engraving
Finish
Other personalised specifications

Before production, the parties may agree specifications through email, messages or another written form of communication.

Where a product is made specifically according to the customer's specifications or is clearly personalised, the normal statutory right of withdrawal may not apply under EU consumer law.

The fact that a product is handmade or unique does not automatically make it exempt from the right of withdrawal; the relevant exception concerns products made to the customer's specifications or clearly personalised.

8. Custom Order Changes

Customers should review agreed specifications carefully before production begins.

If you wish to modify an agreed custom order, contact us as soon as possible.

Changes requested after production begins may:

Be impossible to implement
Delay completion
Increase the agreed price
Require replacement materials
Require a revised delivery estimate

Any material changes to the agreed specifications or price should be agreed before the altered work proceeds.

9. Custom Order Deposits

MK-Knives may require a deposit or advance payment before commencing a custom order.

The amount and terms of any deposit should be communicated when the custom order is agreed.

Where work has begun on a genuinely personalised or custom-made product, cancellation and refund rights may differ from those applicable to standard stock products.

Nothing in this section limits mandatory statutory consumer rights.

10. Availability

Most handmade knives are produced in very limited quantities, and many are unique pieces.

Placing a product in your shopping cart does not necessarily reserve it until checkout has been completed.

In the unlikely event that the same unique product becomes unavailable after an order is placed, we will contact you and refund any payment if the order cannot be fulfilled.

11. Shipping and Delivery

Shipping methods, charges and available destinations are shown during checkout where applicable.

Estimated delivery times are estimates rather than guaranteed delivery dates unless expressly agreed otherwise.

For EU consumer purchases, goods should generally be delivered within 30 days unless another delivery period has been agreed. Forbrug.dk

12. International Orders and Customs

Customers ordering products for delivery outside the relevant customs territory may be responsible for:

Import VAT
Customs duties
Brokerage fees
Clearance fees
Other taxes or charges imposed by local authorities

Unless expressly stated otherwise during checkout, such charges are not included in the product price or shipping price.

The customer is responsible for checking applicable local import rules.

Kitchen knives may be subject to restrictions in certain jurisdictions.

MK-Knives does not guarantee that a product can legally be imported into every country or region.

13. Customs Delays

MK-Knives is not responsible for delays caused solely by customs inspections, customs clearance or local authorities where those matters are outside our reasonable control.

This does not remove any rights the customer may have under mandatory consumer law.

14. Refused or Uncollected Shipments

If a shipment is returned because the customer:

Refuses applicable customs charges
Does not complete customs clearance
Does not collect the shipment
Supplies incorrect or incomplete delivery information

reasonable costs incurred as a result may, where legally permitted, be deducted from any refund.

This may include original shipping, return shipping, carrier fees and customs-related costs incurred by MK-Knives.

15. Right of Withdrawal and Returns

Consumers purchasing online within the EU generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal, subject to statutory exceptions. European Union

16. Defective Products and Statutory Rights

Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected by these Terms.

For Danish consumer purchases, the Danish Sale of Goods Act provides a two-year right to complain about defects, and this period cannot simply be reduced by contractual terms. Forbrug.dk

EU consumers also generally benefit from a minimum two-year legal guarantee where goods are faulty or do not conform to the contract. European Union

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, remedies may include repair, replacement, price reduction or refund.

17. Handmade Characteristics

The following may be normal characteristics rather than defects:

Minor variations in handmade dimensions
Forging marks
Natural material variations
Differences in wood grain
Variations in horn or other natural materials
Variations in Damascus pattern
Patina development on carbon steel

Whether something constitutes a defect depends on the product description, what was agreed and applicable consumer law.

18. Carbon Steel

Many MK-Knives products use high-carbon and tool steels.

Unless expressly described as stainless, such steels may react with moisture, acidic foods and environmental conditions.

Carbon steel may naturally develop patina and discolouration.

Rust caused by improper storage, leaving the blade wet, dishwasher use or insufficient maintenance is generally not a manufacturing defect.

Customers should clean and dry carbon-steel blades after use and maintain them appropriately.

19. Proper Use

MK-Knives kitchen knives are cutting tools intended primarily for appropriate food preparation.

Unless a product is expressly designed for another purpose, knives should not be used for:

Prying
Chopping bones
Frozen food
Opening cans
Screwdriver-type tasks
Throwing
Striking hard objects
Other inappropriate uses

Damage caused by misuse is not necessarily a manufacturing defect.

Nothing in this section limits statutory rights relating to an actual defect present in the product.

20. Sharpening and Modification

Sharpening, reprofiling, polishing, thinning, rehandling or otherwise modifying a knife can alter its geometry or finish.

Damage caused by improper third-party sharpening or modification is not the responsibility of MK-Knives.

However, modification does not automatically remove statutory rights for an unrelated defect that existed in the product.

21. Safety

Kitchen knives are inherently sharp tools and must be handled responsibly.

Customers are responsible for safe storage and use.

Keep knives away from children and persons unable to handle them safely.

Purchasers are responsible for complying with local rules concerning possession, purchase, importation and use of knives.

22. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, website content including:

MK-Knives branding
Logos
Product photography
Product descriptions
Designs
Graphics
Text
Other original website content

is owned by or licensed to MK-Knives and may not be reproduced or commercially used without permission, except where permitted by law.

23. Website Use

You may not use the website for unlawful purposes or in a manner designed to disrupt, damage or interfere with its operation.

Automated use of the website that imposes an unreasonable load or is intended to scrape protected content for unauthorised commercial reproduction may be restricted where permitted by law.

24. Errors and Corrections

We aim to ensure that all website information is accurate.

However, typographical errors, incorrect dimensions, pricing errors or technical errors may occasionally occur.

We may correct errors when discovered.

If an error materially affects an order already placed, we will contact the customer rather than simply replacing an agreed product or price without notice.

25. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be prohibited by applicable law.

In particular, these Terms do not limit mandatory consumer protection rights.

To the extent legally permitted, MK-Knives is not responsible for indirect losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was entered into.

This section does not apply where mandatory law provides otherwise.

26. Force Majeure and Events Outside Our Control

MK-Knives will not be responsible for delays caused by events genuinely outside our reasonable control, such as severe transport disruption, natural disasters, government action or comparable extraordinary circumstances.

We will make reasonable efforts to minimise the effect of such events and communicate material delays.

Mandatory consumer rights concerning delayed or failed delivery remain unaffected.

27. Privacy

Personal information is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection law.

We will attempt to resolve legitimate complaints reasonably and in accordance with applicable consumer law.

29. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by Danish law.

However, if you are a consumer residing in another country, this choice of law does not deprive you of mandatory consumer protections that apply to you under applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory right to bring a consumer dispute before a competent court or authority.

30. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms periodically to reflect changes in our business, services or applicable law.

The terms applicable to a particular purchase are generally those in effect when the purchase agreement was entered into, subject to mandatory law.
